The complete guide

Everything Snap Tutor does, explained simply.

A five-minute read for parents who want to know exactly what they're signing up for.

So, what is Snap Tutor?

Picture the usual evening: dinner's on, your child is stuck on question 4, and you can't remember how long division works — or it's taught differently now. Snap Tutor is the patient helper who sits beside them at that exact moment.

Your child takes a photo of the question. Snap Tutor reads it, then teaches the method step by step, at their grade, in your family's language. The goal isn't to hand over an answer — it's for your child to understand it well enough to do the next one alone.

1. Snap the homework

Open the app and tap the camera. Printed worksheets, textbook pages and even messy pencil handwriting all work. Snap Tutor shows you what it read so you can fix anything before it starts — no typing out long questions.

Every photo is saved into your child's own history, and you can sort them into folders by subject, so revising before a test is easy.

2. Step-by-step teaching

Snap Tutor breaks the problem into small, clear steps, using words that fit your child's age. Every step can be read aloud, which is great for younger children or anyone who learns better by listening.

Still confused? Tap "Teach me" for a slower explanation with pictures, or try a different method — sometimes the second way of explaining is the one that clicks.

You can also fill the answers into the original photo, written in neat handwriting right where the blanks are, so your child can check their own work against it.

3. Ask the tutor anything

After the explanation, your child can ask follow-up questions — "why do we carry the one?" — by typing or simply holding the button and speaking. The tutor answers kindly, without judging, as many times as they need.

4. Practise until it sticks

Understanding once isn't the same as remembering. Snap Tutor offers a similar practice question straight away, gives hints one at a time if they get stuck, and keeps track of mistakes so they come back for review later.

5. The AI Classroom and lessons

Not every day has homework. The Lessons and Learn tabs offer short, friendly lessons in maths, reading comprehension, English grammar and science, matched to your child's grade and to American or British school standards, grades 1 to 13.

6. Progress you can actually see

The Progress tab shows which topics your child has mastered and which still need work. Every week you get a short, plain-English email: what they studied, where they got stuck, and what to encourage next. You stay in the loop without hovering.

7. One account for the whole family

You, the parent, own the account. Add a profile for each child with their name, age and school standard, and Snap Tutor sets the right grade automatically. Paid plans include up to 4 children; Lifetime has no limit. Each child's history and progress are kept separate.

Snap Tutor speaks English, Arabic, Chinese and Vietnamese, so a parent and child can each use the language they are most comfortable in.

8. Safe, private and honest

No ads, no open chat with strangers, and your family's data is never sold. Profiles are managed by parents only, and each family can only ever see its own homework.

Snap Tutor is a learning helper, not an exam or assignment-completion service, and it never grades or judges your child. Explanations are made by AI and can occasionally be wrong, so it's always worth looking through the working together.
